SLAP ON WRIST

HAVING been convicted last year of assaulting four persons outside a Port-of-Spain nightclub in 2007 and for using obscene language, soca superstar Machel Montano got a virtual “slap on the wrist” when he was fined $13,700.
The punishment was handed down by Port-of-Spain Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor yesterday after sentencing was on Thursday January 17, postponed to yesterday, which allowed Montano freedom to compete and win millions of dollars in several competitions during the Carnival season.
As he emerged from the courthouse yesterday, a smiling Montano gave the thumbs up and said he was moving forward as he has a legacy to carry on.

well machel ah glad for you. i did now want you to go to jail cause yau ent kill no body. pay your fine and take this as a learning lesson. When you came out the court you say ‘we have work to do’ i hope you was not only thinking about ‘fogging up d place’ work ah hope you was thinking about finding a way to reach the young people out there who is badly in need of a positive ‘mentor’. You now have first hand experience of what happends when you break the law. its funny how people are more willing to listen to sombody who has been through some ‘stuff’. ah know you have a busy schedule and plenty money to make but please try to give back something to the people who have given you so much.
