Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the US could be selfishly motivated for its own gain, as was the case with Edward Snowden and Julian Assange.

Warner on $2.5M bail

UPDATE: MAY 28, 2015 Jack leaves prison in an ambulance
JACK Warner, who woke on Wednesday as a free man, but went to sleep accused and imprisoned, was able to make bail this afternoon, and leave the Frederick Street prison in Port of Spain. He left in a prison ambulance.

  • Police have an arrest warrant for Jack
  • US makes extradition request for Warner
  • Darian and Darryl Warner plead guilty
  • FIFA Officials and Five Corporate Executives Indicted

$2.5 Million Bail but Warner Remains in Custody

Jack WarnerJACK Warner was this afternoon granted $2.5 million bail but has failed to secure his release. In addiiton, his attorney were unable to secure an emergency sitting of a judge in the High Court, to consider his bail application. Warner is now at an unknown location. It is uncertain whether he will spend the night at the Maximum Security Prison, Arouca, or at a police station.

What I could not discern from a distance (I’ve never met the good Father) is that he is also a humorist who can put veterans such as Paul Keens-Douglas and “Sprangalang” to pale on any stage at any time.

Dr. Kwame NantambuOne of the apparently unknown realities of crime in T&T is the fact that neither the current People’s Partnership (PP) government, a People’s National Movement (PNM) government nor an Independent Liberal Party (ILP) government can solve/prevent certain crimes in this
country.

For example, if as occurred quite recently, an aggrieved ex-husband decides to kill his ex-wife, then, there is absolutely nothing any of the afore-mentioned or the Commissioner of Police can do to prevent/stop this familial crime.

Raffique ShahMany readers scoffed at my suggestion in last week’s column that a rapprochement between UNC/COP and the ILP was a strong possibility in the run-up to the next general elections, due no later than August 2015. I imagine diehard supporters on both sides of the divide feel deeply wounded by the abuse their leaders hurled at each other during the three campaigns conducted since Jack Warner broke with the United National Congress (UNC) and formed the Independent Liberal Party (ILP).
