Six of the nation’s top athletes yesterday received the Chaconia Gold National Award for their outstanding achievement at the XXIX Summer Olympics held in Beijing, China last month.

The small ceremony took place at President’s House, in Port-of-Spain.

Double silver medallist, Richard Thompson led the group of awardees which included 4×100 metres relay silver medallist Marc Burns, Emmanuel Callender, Keston Bledman and Darrel Brown.

On Monday, Manning pledged $4 million in rewards to the TT Olympians. Although the sprinters have not all decided on their exact plans for the rewards, some of the money will go towards future training and preparation for the Olympic Games in 2012.
