Re: The Black Child: A Destiny In Jeopardy

An excellent essay, although the date of its original publication is not stated. Quite telling in that incorporated quotes were taken from publications decades, even generations past. Yet, a few months ago we were debating the merits of Dr. Cosby's "Eurocentric" or more correctly "Germanic" interpretation of the problems of "poor black folk." The names have been changed but the "Vandal" -ism never stopped.

I am not fascist, but sometimes my impatience provokes sympathy for fascist views, and, at times in this on-going war for African survival, I have found the idea of "collateral damage" acceptable, especially as a solution to the Blacks so aptly described in this quote: "Some of the most dangerous Blacks in the world are many of those brothers and sisters who finished graduate school “with honors” and yet operate against the interest of Blacks because of their Eurocentric orientation."

It is a bewildering fact that what appears obvious to some posters on this forum, is not obvious to those with access to the money and power to make a difference. Integration and assimilation, has meant the death of "Black" innovation and invention. The few who manage to ascend within the system are singled out by the system's architects and upheld as icons to keep the masses in check.

This is true not only of Africans but also in other non-African parts of the formerly colonized world. Multi-national corporations in which I include religious organizations have usurped the position of the colonial masters. They are intent on creating "a society of serfs" thus reinforcing the wealth and power of the descendents of Germanic tribal overlords.

Some indigenous cultures have become so distorted by their Germanic interpretation that elements of intent and value are lost even to the originating society. Thus, what was once beneficial has now become detrimental. A sterling example is India.

When we learn to value our own we will find the path to salvation.
