It has been more that a century since the abolition of slavery and the descendents of former slaves somewhat removed have not been able to disconnect themselves from the descendents of their former slave masters. By that I meam that they continue to validate the machinations of Massa even to their own detriment.
There are those who, in defense of this malaise, continue to cite the vast amount of revenue being earned by blacks across the US, and they neglect to point out that it is earned primarily through the medium of entertainment. This reinforces the view of whites in general, that blacks are a laughter away. On the other end of the spectrum they would point to individuals such as David Dinkins, Condaleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Jessie Jackson and others who have acquired political notoriety, as examples of how far they have come without realizing that this a reflection of the validation of their master's blueprint.
So, without taking a position on the above observations, when, if ever, will the black man embark on a journey that is self validating and leads to a retention of his culture. The present method of assimilation is yet to move their culture beyond "fried chicken and barbecue ribs." Hungry anyone?
