Questions have been raised as to whether Planning, Economic and Social Restructuring and Gender Affairs Minister Mary King breached the law when she failed to disclose her pecuniary and family interest in a software engineering company, Ixanos Ltd, which won a Government website development contract from her ministry last November.

STATEMENT OF PRIME MINISTER THE HONOURABLE KAMLA PERSAD-BISSESSAR

8 May, 2011

Media reports published today, attributed to Minister of Planning, Economic and Social Restructuring and Gender Affairs, Mary King, which state that I as Prime Minister had been informed of the whole tendering process on the Government website development contract, are entirely and categorically erroneous.

The matter was brought to my attention recently after the process had been completed and I made it clear that, on the basis of the information provided me, it was highly inappropriate.

At this time I am awaiting a report on the matter so that I may be better informed to make a decision which ensures that the integrity of the Government remains intact.

Until that time I wish to make no further comment on the issue.

  1. There is nothing wrong with the contract itself. It is just that there is a conflict of interest, in that the person awarding the contract have a vest interest in the company. Therefore, anyone else would not stand a chance of getting that contract. The PNM was famous for having done this type of thing, it was wrong then and it is wrong now…

  2. Mary King is brazen, UNETHICAL and SHAMELESS!!! To make matters worst she pretended to be Ms. Squeaky Clean before she got into politics always critical of practically everything and now she does this? So, she thinks we are STUPID? She should be FIRED immediately!

  3. Don’t worry Curtis, your White Canadian Commissioner , and his White British Scotland Yard blokes ,will take care of all your country’s white color criminals, irrespective of race , color ,enclave of origin, gender, or political affiliations. What a sick joke , if this is the change we should be expected to believe in, ehhh folks?

  4. Well its about time, what is in the dark has now come to light, she should be fired with immediate effect.People seem to feel that Trinis are eliterate.

  5. Very greedy, you want all for yourselves. Eat little and live long. Very corrupted. Shame on you you educated woman. You did nothing for the country. You disgraced your country, yourself and your family. Good riddance.

  6. PM: Mary King?
    MK: yeas boss
    PM: You’re fired
    MK:…but it was above board
PM: YES…BUT NOT WHEN YOU ARE THE BOARD!

  7. Greetings and CONGRATULATIONS! PRIME MINISTER THE HONOURABLE KAMLA PERSAD-BISSESSAR…
Pssst! T&T is way ahead of US of A (lol)
You made the right decision and I am VERY PROUD of you – Mrs. King wants your party to collapse. Maybe!!!
(1). Very selfish – Mrs. King must know that at her position a maximum level of transparency is imperative – The appearance of fairness
(2). Deceptive – The fact that she did not mention her affiliation could lead one to conclude that her motive is not in the best interest of all your party – All gov’t contracts touch on ‘conflict’.
May God give you grace to guide and protect you and your family from all dangers!
