BRIAN Lara was acclaimed as the greatest batsman of his generation after the Prince became the King yesterday.
At 11.22am Lara became the most prolific batsman in Test cricket's 129-year history when he flicked a Glenn McGrath delivery to fine leg for his 11,175th Test run.
Half the Australian team, including Shane Warne and captain Ricky Ponting, shook Lara's hand as he received his third standing ovation of the match for passing Allan Border's record.
