History seems to be repeating itself. In 1927, the flood dubbed The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 covered more than 16 million acres of land, and displaced almost a million people. In that flood, levees on the Mississippi River collapsed in 145 places in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas, killing 246 people and leaving 900,000 homeless. Now, almost eighty years later, the similarities are eery: levees collapsing, hundreds of thousands homeless, and hundreds (and possibly many more) killed.
