I know I'm late to this discussion, but I thought I'd add some comments anyway.

How to take improve... I'd like to quote 2 amazing people on this: Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. (In chronological order)

Gandhi had spoken many times of "equitable distribution" of resources; that if I were to take something for myself but not need it, or use it, then I am a thief of sorts. He also believed in communal sharing of work, sharing of food and cultivation, etc.

King had spoken of "black power" as a form of empowerment -- supporting each other in the creation of businesses, employment and community.

They both spoke of the need for community work and elevation, and that's the key to empowerment. So, the thing to do is to band together to form strong buying communities; farm together; continue what was begun, and to put aside the desire for immediate wealth in order to achieve long-term advancement.

It's one of those things that seems incredibly obvious, but which is equally difficult, because it requires committment to ourselves and our future above the now.

It's not attainable by any ethnic group alone; nor by any individual alone. It's a common ailment for all ethnic groups, and the only way to overcome discrimination, poverty, desperation... is for us all to commit to equity.
