How long will Caribbean leaders continue to bury their heads in the sand? The problem of the US$ isn't going away anytime soon. There is no quick fix for a 7+ trillion dollar deficit. Economists and financial analysts everywhere are viewing the US ballooning deficit with forboding. When will Caribbean leaders wake up? A united caribbean with a common currency has a better chance of surviving the coming storm. Right now the only Caribbean nation unaffected by a weak US$ is Cuba.
Diversification of foreign reserves is a good start so T&T may want to consider accepting any other currency but US$ for its oil and natural gas.
