AS a Trinidadian who left Trinidad in the early fifties, I can't be expected to know, who this Cudgo man is. I have however been following the affairs of that Island for all the the time that I have chosen to be away from it. The Americans have tried various forms of Affirmative Action in the interest of equality of opportunity for minorities in their country. In contrast Afro-Trinidadians are not a minority in T&T, and for all I know may well be in the majority.
I have never been aware that Afro-Trinidadians[ and I am only using this terminology from picking it up from the Trinidad News],have been marginalized or somehow left out of the mainstream of postsecondary education, respectable positions, or bigshot jobs as I remember the Colonial times. The distinguished high school I attended in south Trinidad in Colonial times enmembered itself of both Indians,Blacks,Mulattos and whites[I hope I have included everyone here],and I do not recall any such hangups as this Mr Cudgoe seems to be having. Might it be that in those days one had to write an entrance exam in order to enter the better quality highschools of the time, and now , with free education, all and sundry may aspire to schools beyond intellectualt their intellectual heft? Is this what Mr Cudgoe is promoting?.I confess to not really knowing what the gentleman is all about or after. Howevercomma,he should consult a milk farmer, assuming such souls still exist in the Island, to inform himself about the the behaviour of cream.
