Health Ministry: No cancer drugs shortage

Doctor sorry for ‘distress' caused by comments on cancer drugs
The apology came hours after the ministry and the NWRHA hit back at comments made by Dr Asante Le Blanc before a Joint Select Committee (JSC) of the Parliament on Social Services and Public Administration on Wednesday.

Le Blanc told the JSC there was always a shortage of breast and prostate cancer drugs in the public healthcare system. She also claimed while the newer drugs have been approved, they are not available in the public health system and antiquated versions were given to patients.

Lydmoy Brebnor-Dillon, Elect Lady, El Bethel Spiritual Baptist Church, Mt St George, said on March 30 Baptists will gather at the corner of Orange Hill and the Claude Noel Highway around 9 am.

They will then walk to their incomplete multi-purpose facility, west of the army camp at Signal Hill, for a day-long celebration, under the theme Never Lose Hope, Continue the Fight. It is expected to begin at 10 am.

During the trade mission Gopee-Scoon also addressed delegates and Ghanaian businesses at a seminar, Doing Business in Ghana, which provided delegates with information on the requirements for entering the Ghanaian market and doing business with Ghanaian enterprises.

In her address she said Ghana was one of TT's top-ten trading partners in the African continent. She highlighted the long-standing historical and cultural ties between the two countries.

She attributed the problem to the prevalence of drugs and guns, but noted the police had seized more than 100 guns for the year already and almost 3,000 in the last four years.

"For this year, already we have recovered 117 weapons. Over the past four years, we would have recovered 2,840 firearms with 84,373 rounds of assorted ammunition. For the year so far, we have recovered, in addition to the 117 weapons, 1,430 rounds of ammunition."
