In his 2023 Diwali message, he noted for the past two years, the world has been under dark clouds of war and inhumanity on a scale unanticipated in modern times.

Dr Rowley warned citizens that the gruesome effects of these occurrences will reach our land, in some form.

At a time when women were expected to get married, have children and take care of a home, the late Trinidadian artist Sybil Atteck decided to instead pursue her passion and became one of the few professional artists in Trinidad and Tobago.

As I moved further into the market from the conversation at the entrance, I saw the North Coast Pan Serenaders on site. This little band caught my attention because of its composition of pre-teen and teenage youth.

Right there and then, their presence and performance was a manifestation of what can and should be done for youth development and the potential of pan music to deliver a continuing peace dividend, generation after generation. My instincts about the manifestation proved right when I sought out their history.
