State witness says cops tried to cover up Moruga murders
The details were provided by their former colleague, WPC Nicole Clement, who was initially jointly charged with them for the triple murder but became a state witness.

On Monday, Clement was deemed a hostile witness by High Court Judge Carla Brown-Antoine after she declined to testify due to "safety and security concerns". Her testimony during the preliminary inquiry, in which she claimed two of the friends survived the initial barrage of gunshots on their vehicle but were executed at a second location, was read to the jury.

Browne: Caricom to meet on Gaza/Israel conflict today
He believed Israel had a right to exist as a state and countries had a right to defend themselves. However, he said there was such a thing as excessive self-defence, and with the measures being carried out by Israel, including indiscriminate killing and displacement of Palestinians, Israel risked pivoting from the role of victim to that of oppressor.

Vieira called for the UN to step in and take stewardship of Gaza. He said the conflict did not only threaten security and stability in and around Gaza but, if left unchecked, could escalate into a greater war.

He said he was "absolutely not" satisfied with this level of detection, but said the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) had been improving its techniques.

Reconsider readmission ban
ACCORDING to Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, the Minister of Education, the State's policy on the readmission of expelled students is clear.

"Students are not readmitted to public schools after expulsion but are still eligible to partake in all free training programmes offered by different arms of government," she said. "The issue of readmission would require a policy change which has not been considered at this time."
