When the vessel was spotted off Guyana, the authorities suggested that based on the drift pattern, it may have come from the open Atlantic Ocean, as far away as Africa. Migrants from Africa's west coast often make the perilous journey aboard rickety boats in an attempt to get to Europe, with some vessels sinking and others drifting into the open Atlantic.

Taxi fares increase again
More than 60 per cent of taxi drivers across T&T have increased their fares since the COVID-19 pandemic hit and now, three more associations - the San Fernando to Macaulay, Couva to San Fernando and the Chaguanas to San Fernando Taxi Drivers Associations, have announced they will be increasing their fares by $3, $1 and $4 respectively starting next week.

Taxi fares from San Fernando to go up from Monday
FROM Monday, passengers travelling between San Fernando and Chaguanas will have to pay $18 – a $4 increase from the present fare. He said the increase was because of the government's decision to reduce the allowed occupancy for public transport from 75 to 50 per cent.

The hanging of Steven Boodoo
Five days later, Boodoo's decaying body was discovered by a group of hikers, hanging from a tree in the Blanchisseuse forest. Police said the body was found hanging from a piece of rope, inside a body bag, with the feet bound. Boodoo's identification card was found nearby.
