Evidence Bill passed with full support of Parliament
A total of 40 members yesterday voted for the bill which would have been passed even without Opposition support as it required a simple majority.

Responding to a question from Chaguanas East MP Vandana Mohit, Rowley said the Electronic Monitoring Unit was ready to deploy electric bracelets and use them in monitoring. He said the unit was waiting for the judiciary to start issuing orders for the use of the bracelets. He said he can't give a timeline as to when the devices will be used as the government has no control over the judiciary.

15 seats for Tobago
"In this regard, it has been advised that the act be amended to increase the number of electoral districts to an odd number which will lessen the likelihood of a possible recurrence of a deadlocked result." He said the Constitution (Amendment) (Tobago Self-Government) Bill 2018, now before a Joint Select Committee (JSC), was produced after two years of extensive consultations in Tobago. "In the circumstances, it is advisable to adopt the proposal from the Tobago Self-Government Bill that there be an increase to 15 electoral districts," Rowley said.

Patriotic submission to go to Cabinet next week
THE Prime Minister said the financing proposal submitted by Patriotic Energies and Technologies Company on February 5 will be brought to Cabinet next week for a decision. Speaking in Parliament in response to a question from Pointe-a-Pierre MP David Lee, Dr Rowley said the financing proposal for the purchase of the assets of the Guaracara refinery and Paria Fuel was currently under review and would be submitted to the Cabinet next week for a decision.

The men told police that at about 2.15 pm they were both liming at Production Drive, Sea Lots when a man ran up to them and firing shot. The gunman escaped. Both victims were taken to hospital by a passer-by.
