Honourable Men........

What does a man have, if not his word? The Bard of Avon wrote:

"Who steals my purse steals trash; Tis something, nothing;
Twas mine, tis his, and has been slave to thousands;
But he that filches from me my good name
Robs me of that which not enriches him
And makes me poor indeed."

Ponder, if you can, on the depths and magnitude of those words written a couple centuries ago, that is so relevant today. An agreement is a spoken or written consensus reached by two or more parties(parties here = people or organizations) for some common good (or bad, for that matter). It can begin, "I swear by........." in which case it calls on The Supreme Being to bear witness to the arrangement, or signatures may be affixed to the written document, and/or hands may be shook to signal the closure, and to show good faith in the inherent honour generally perceived in men the seal was generally some drink, partaken by the signatories before departure.
In the Western days, men were shot for being either called or found to be liars, and all religions subscribe to truthfulness as being one of the essential pillars upon which all civilized societies stand.
What is a man, if he has not a good name? He is nothing, like the chaff that flies off from the grass when cut and blows away into nothingness.
Basdeo Panday has reached his nadir, and in his own words, History will judge him very unkindly for causing this agony of another elections beng revisited upon the populace in suych a short space of time.
