At the time of Independence, we were a people steeped in ignorance. There were those among our first government who were academically proficient and the same goes for those in opposition. Even so, it is safe to suggest that they were practicing. And for that we paid a price and continue to do so. Fifty years (50) later, we are somewhat removed from those "good old days" and should be able to look back and determine if waste has exceeded substantive progress. Where are we and why?
