BY CAMILLE CLARKE

A lime at a Port-of-Spain club ended in death for two men after the car in which they were travelling crashed on the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway in Tunapuna.

A third man was fighting for his life at hospital up to late yesterday.

Justin Nunes, 23, of Paradise Gardens, Tacarigua, a loans officer at the Copos Credit Union in Port-of-Spain, succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

Dennis Ali, 29, a model and part owner of a roti shop on Cochrane Street,Tunapuna, died on Thursday night at hospital. Ali suffered injuries to his head and back.

Stefon Edwards, an airline attendant, was up to late yesterday fighting for his life at hospital, police said.

Police said around 4 am, the men, who were returning from a lime at 51 Degrees, were heading east along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway in a car which collided with a garbage truck and overturned several times.

Ali’s brother David described him as a carefree, generous and kind person.

David said Ali won the first Mr Anchorage competition and was employed with the CoCo Velvet agency.

“He also made guest appearances on Westwood Park,” David said.

He said after doctors did a second stem test on Ali, he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, family members said Nunes, one side of a twin, was very low-profile, kind person with a sense of humour.
