Pastor Vishnu’s Cunupia church stripped clean

Down came the banner about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Out went the chairs, instruments, tapestry, electrical items—everything with which pastor Vishnu Lutchmansingh had furnished his elaborate Faith Sanctuary Ministries.

The Cunupia church, including the massive tent under which it stood, was stripped clean by court marshals after Nutrimix Ltd levied on the property, in lieu of $3 million which Nutrimix owner Shaheed Mohammed claimed Lutchmansingh owned him.

Felicia Hosein, vice-president of Nutrimix Feeds, a subsidiary, also walked with a court order which gave permission for the items to be claimed.

Nutrimix has only received $1 million of what the company claims Lutchmansingh owed it, and Hosein did not think what was collected yesterday was worth the remainder. She added that other means would have to be used to claim the sum.

A bailiff who accompanied Hosein halted the dismantling of the tent around 3.30 pm because of rain and said it would take about four hours to take it down because it was composed of plastic and aluminium.

Lutchmansingh, who claimed to have inherited a billion-dollar estate from an American businessman, was charged last week with 38 counts of fraud.
