A PH driver on his way to drop a passenger at St Barb’s, Laventille, was shot in the head at about 10 pm on Sunday. He died instantly. Police reports revealed that Jerome Scipio, 21, was driving his car along St Barb’s Road with a passenger, when he was shot twice in the head. Officers of the Besson Street Police Station rushed to the scene along with a district medical officer and ordered the removal of the body. Relatives of the dead man told Newsday that Scipio was not involved in gang-related activities and lived at Chinatown, Belmont. They added that he earned an honest living plying his car for hire and was well known where he lived. Twenty-eight persons had been murdered for the year up to yesterday.
