By Richard Charan

The secretary at Nariva MP Harry Partap's constituency office in Rio Claro has been charged with making a false statement to the Elections and Boundaries Commission.

Jenny Maharaj, 22, of Chee Young Trace, Charuma Village, Biche, was arrested at her home around 9 a.m. yesterday as she made plans for a prayer meeting for her father who died last week.

She appeared before Rio Claro Magistrate Indrani Cedeno just before noon.

Maharaj is charged with making a false statement regarding her address while filling out an EBC document on May 11, 1999.

The charge was laid indictably .

Magistrate Cedeno ruled that Maharaj would be granted her own bond in the sum of $2,000 to re-appear on Thursday.

Maharaj has retained attorney Prakash Ramadhar to represent her interests.

The charge was laid by WPC Winchester of the San Fernando Homicide Bureau.
