Former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday finally gets it right even as the religious cultists take issue with the recent statement attributed to him.
"Politics has its own Morality, and if someone wants to hold on to one's professional integrity, one ought to leave politics." This is as profound a statement that anyone in T&T could make.
Take a look at T&T after forty years of Independence.Have our Governments dealth honestly with the plight of those who are mirred in a sea of abject poverty? Have they been fair in the equitable distribution of our Nation's resources or do they continue to serve their own narrow vested interests?
These are some of the questions that the cultists should ponder before assailing Mr. Panday, and perhaps, they too would agree with his observations. This being T&T, instead of reaching any practical conclusion and a remedy, someone would say "leave it to God" and that would be the end of the matter.
