Trinidadians rush to aid Grenada

Trinidadians are rising to the occasion and going to extra mile to assist Grenada in its recovery from the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.

Business places, private citizens, schools and community organizations etc have been pooling their resources and requesting public support by way of food items, home suppliers and building supplies to be sent to the stricken islands.

Media organizations have also been doing their part by attempting to connect with radio stations in Grenada especially to allow listeners enquiring about the well being of family members and friends to send messages of reassurance. Several radio stations have also established their own drop off points and collection centers where citizens can make their own contributions.

Reports have been made via radio stations of citizens with boats and aircraft of their own volunteering to travel to Grenada to assist in the transportation of much needed items

The Grenadian population in Trinidad is considerable and families in the Caribbean have traditionally crossed islands over the years creating an intricate network of families and communities of friends across the islands. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago has set up an emergency unit for people requesting information on the welfare and whereabouts of Trinidad and Tobago nationals in Grenada. Hotline Numbers are (868) 6272442, (868) 624 2903 (Phone); (868) 627 0571, (868) 6244220 (fax)
