Hurricane Batters Grenada; Takes Aim At Jamaica

MIAMI, FL, Weds. Sept. 8: Hurricane Ivan increased in strength to a category four hurricane and was last night aiming to hit Jamaica, having spared Trinidad and Tobago and St. Lucia its wrath but directly hit Grenada and St. Vincent.

"There is a very strong possibility that we could get a direct hit because the current track would take it (Ivan) directly over Jamaica," Evan Thompson, the head of the Meteorological Office's weather branch, told the Jamaica Observer last night.
