Livingston to complain to TTFF after poor effort f

Livingston will make a formal complaint against the Trinidad & Tobago
Football Federation after Marvin Andrews returned from international duty
exhausted for their 3-1 defeat against Hibernian.

The Almondvale side knew the defender would be taking part in the
international against Egypt earlier this week but coach Allan Preston was
seething when he discovered he had been made to play the full 90 minutes of
two games in three days.

Andrews looked out of sorts as Livi slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of
Hibs - just a few weeks after defeating them in the CIS Insurance Cup final
— and the big defender admitted to Preston and manager Davie Hay that he
was exhausted when he returned from international duty.

His work permit to play in Scotland depends on the number of caps he earns
for his country but Livingston are set to fire off a letter of complaint to
the Trinidad & Tobago FA.

Preston said: “He played two games in three days with Trinidad & Tobago and
we didn’t know about that until he got back.

“He played the full 90 minutes against Egypt and I don't even know who the
other game was against - some chip shop XI.

“It’s nonsense. It’s all fair and well to let him go away for international
games but not to take it like this. We will definitely be making a complaint.

“The work permit thing means that he has to play internationals but he said
that he was absolutely shattered when he got back."

Tom McManus gave Hibs the lead shortly before half-time only to be pegged
back by a Derek Lilley strike but a Derek Riordan double ensured the win
for Hibs and the young hitman should have found the back of the net twice
more before the full-time whistle.

Preston added: “I thought we were poor today and defensively it was not
acceptable — the players were told that in no uncertain terms after the
game. It won’t be tolerated.”

The win acts as some consolation for losing out on silverware this season
but Hibs manager Bobby Williamson insists revenge was not his motivation
today.

He said: “Revenge is far too strong a word - professional pride has a lot
more to do with it.

“We didn’t want to go through the whole season without beating Livingston
and we know how it means to the supporters because of the stick the fans
would have got if that had happened.”

The win breathes life into Hibs' chances of making a late claim for a place
in the top half of the table before the league splits later this month.

Williamson added: “You never concede anything in football because things
change so quickly. We will see how Motherwell get on against Rangers tomorrow.

“I never said that we would be in the top six and I never said that we
wouldn’t do it but I think it would be a remarkable achievement if we did.
