Govt to revamp $$ support for university students

$24m goes to COSTAATT

PAY HALF the cost of your tertiary education and the Government will pay the remainder.

Government yesterday announced "the complete revamping" of the system of financial support for university students, expanding the dollar-for-dollar programme started under the UNC Government, to cover all tertiary students in any higher educational public institution.

Colm Imbert, Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education, said Prime Minister Patrick Manning would make a comprehensive statement on the issue in Parliament today.

Speaking at the post-Cabinet Press conference, Imbert also unveiled a $24 million financial assistance programme for students of the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT). Full Article
