God is still a Trini

Somebody needs to send a copy of David Rudder and Karl Jacob "Trini to the bone" by express mail to West Indies captain Carl Hooper. The major sports story out of the Caribbean this morning is Hooper talking some jazz about West Indies learning to win without Lara. Lo and behold the great one falls early against New Zealand and the rest of the team crumble despite some spirited effort at the end by Jacobs and Sarwan. Really it is time that we really examine this so called West Indies resurgence seriously. We lost a test series against India 2-1, won the one day tournament 4-3 and waltzed over the hapless Bandgladesh. Mind you even West Indian great Gordon Greenidge had said in his first tenure of coach that Bangladesh was not ready for the big stage. Since then everybody beats them ( except Pakistan in that questionable match last world cup). Even our junior fast bowler Lawson took some six wickets for three runs against them and is now touted as the new Andy Roberts. Ha.Ha.
India on the other hand remains one of the best batting teams in the world, Dravid and Tendulkar are well supported by others while their bowling- I have never seen spinners toss the ball more high, leaves much to be desired. But that was enough for Karl Hooper and a lot of others to tell us West Indies are back, and to further say we have learned to win without Lara ( Becca normally a good critic even called for Lara's head). So in defeat we must see victory and thank New Zealand for bringing us back to earth and though one cannot deny there is great promise, Lara is still miles ahead of everyone else and when he fails we are in trouble. So tell Karl Hooper that God is still a Trini.
