  1. Uff presents report to President: Criminal probe likely
Prof John Uff has declined to divulge any information in the bulky report which he presented to President George Maxwell Richards at President’s House yesterday. Uff did admit, however, that there were 91 recommendations submitted in the report of the Commission of Enquiry into the Construction Sector, the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (Udecott), and the Cleaver Heights housing project

    Uff: Evidence strong for court
THE REPORT of the Commission of Inquiry into the construction sector, which has made recommendations that Udecott projects be further probed, is now in the hands of Attorney General John Jeremie after inquiry chairman Professor John Uff QC yesterday presented his Report to President George Maxwell Richards.

Now let the chips fall where they may
The handing over of the Commission of Enquiry report into the construction sector, the Urban Development Corporation (Udecott) and Cleaver Heights by commission chairman Prof John Uff to President George Maxwell Richards is simply the end of the first part of the process.

Notwithstanding the unusual number of ‘distractions’ which the commission he chaired had to face, Prof John Uff yesterday presented a 400 to 500-page report containing 91 recommendations.

Kamla to PM: Publish Uff Report
OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday challenged Prime Minister Patrick Manning to make the findings of the Commission of Inquiry into the construction sector and Udecott public, and vowed that if he does not she would reveal the unedited copy, should her party win the next General Election.

  2. Cops: No word from Hart
Doubtful that former Udecott executive chairman Calder Hart and his wife Sherrine will return to the country, officers of the Anti-Corruption Investigations Bureau (ACIB) are expected to meet today with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard for directions on a probe which requires them to question the Harts.

Obedience, loyalty and the Uff Report
The first casualty of the Uff Report is confidence in the Honourable Minister Emily Dick-Forde’s discernment. Only a few weeks before the report was handed in to the President, we were treated to a rap on the knuckles for “hounding” Mr Calder Hart. Worse, there was the Minister in righteous anger against those who endangered the nation’s soul by their constant criticism of the said Calder Hart.

  11. Now as they say in most sporting lands ,”let the games begin,” as we finally get to the crux of the matter, on what really was raising the blood pressures of fellow nationals ,that conveniently latched on to this contentious Hart issue, and other acts of alleged financial improprieties , that Keith Rowley gave to them on a platter , without himself wisely demanding a pound of flesh , six inches from each of the hearts of those that stood to benefit as a result of his courage to speak out-only after being fired of course. We are talking about alleged, inequitable distribution of social and economic spoils for the great grand children of slaves and indentured laborers that came to dominate the economic and political world of in Sweet T&T aka Rainbow Country.
Don’t you love this place? First , record results of a Commission of Enquiry to deal with construction disparities , with the likely hood that a final nail would be placed in the political coffin of Patrick Manning ,to the delight of a few in selective sections of our country.
In the past, the now famous Scott Drug Report was commissioned to curb the growing influence of former Police Commissioner Randy Burroughs , aka the Fox, as he attempted to put a dent on crime , while allegedly ‘playing with unmentionable criminal fires.’ Again, his career ended as a result , the Police lost it’s Mojo , much to the delight of certain selective quarters , that today are pretending to be worried about their personal welfares, as a result of escalating crimes, and Trini lawlessness.

Friday July 27 th 1990, ‘shall remain infamy,’ within the annals of Sweet T&T , for it was the day that Yasin Abu Bakr , led 114 members of his so called religious Jamaat al Muslimeen warriors, in what a few historians wish to describe as a coup d’état , as he attempted to destroy our sense of democracy.
When the dust finally settled , 24 people were murdered ,including police officers, and government officials, and property damaged to the tune of perhaps 100 millions resulted . Phony treason trials emerged , millions were spent on useless appeals to Massa , legal white Privy Council gods in Britannia ,so as to reiterate what we already knew ,namely that pseudo Islamist Bakr and his thugs, should have been all held ,blindfolded naked ,and immediately shot , then their bodies dragged through the streets of POS , for stray dogs to consume, as a lesson for all possible future similar opportunistic ,political , miscreants.
Guess what – and this is the real Coup de Gras friends- no rearrest were made for the crooks , and bandits ,along with their numerous business , religious, and political co conspirators – many of whom were either conveniently out of Parliament ,or out of the country during the period- that obviously benefited by the blatant acts of savageries ,that were committed on our young ,independent nations at the hands of obvious ,rogues and vagabonds .
Most tragically however, no Commission of Enquiry was ever initiated ,or demanded by the several respective governments, that dissected the diverse political spectrums of our country. Believe it or not , today, many of these jokers are screaming for the benefits of any attentive , ‘resource leeching ears,’ about runaway crimes in our country , while still pretending that 1990 never occurred, or ignoring the rights and needs for dignity of victims -such as dedicated Police Offices -some of which made the ultimate sacrifices – a certain globally respected former PM/ President still alive , the perennially neglected people of Tobago that he represented in Parliament, and the good name of our entire citizenry ,which were never restored or allowed to accrue some semblance of psychological closure.
Should someone remind them , for us the astute, that the evil that men , and of course, women do , will always live with them. Better yet , as a very wise woman always admonished me in words, “ what ain’t reach you, ain’t pass you.”

Let us the few remaining patriots ,continue to love country , and wish them well.
