    1. Talk For yourself Big man… Because I’m from Ft. Lauderdale and I don’t represent this accomplishment. Congrats and everything but I think Trinidad will now start to feel its hurt.

      1. Congratulations, You ran an fair and honest campaign. You stuck to,the issues, where the opposition leader continues to campaign on the old racist politics of Eric Williams. It was time for a change and the change has come. ” Yes we can”, and we did it. I hope that the new PM will unite the county and end the racism between indians and black, provide jobs and end the crime that was created by the last PM.

        1. I is really a proud moment when you can see people performing their democratic rights in a peaceful way. In many countries people are not allowed or even die trying. Congratulations to the first woman PM of Trinidad & Tobago. However, I think you need to research your political history about Eric Williams. It was through some of his political policies that colleges and convents the more pretigious schools in Trinidad was made accessible to lower income families. He did it regardless of their race and ethnicity. It is sad when I read comments like these. Do we ever stop to think that sickness or death knowns no politicil affiliations, race, ethnicity and social class. Let’s just pray that under the leadership of the new PM that the country moves forward. Please lets us stop blaming and looking at race. We all have to go when the ‘Good Lord says. God Bless

      2. Please stay in Ft. Lauderdale because you dont know what you’re talking about and you have enough to worry about the economy etc . in the US. I hope you’re not there as an illegal immigrant.

  3. What an Historic Day. CONGRATS to a Powerful Lady.
You said we will rise. I believed this. Forget the detractors. Look at the Map and the allocation of the Seats won. The SUN rises in the East. It’s glory has pushed the opponents to the brink of the western peninsula.
Thank you GOD for making the people do the right an ethical thing. Our prayers have been answered.
To the new Prime Minister Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar, GOD be with you and your new Government and may he continue to guide you all the way for a better T&T in every respect.

  22. Congratulations Kamla,
When I came to Trinidad for the first time in 2007, I heard you speaking on the radio. When I left Trinidad I told my Trini friends,”Someday Kamla will be Prime Minister of this country!” It is God’s plan. God bless you and all of Trinidad and Tobago. It is a great responsibility you have taken on,but I know you will handle it well. Give your country back to it’s people. They so deserve it. Congratulations and God bless.

    Mike from USA

  23. Congratulations Mrs. Bissesar on your victory. I wish you and your team all the best in the future. Hold true to everything that you all have promised the people of T and T.

At least now Trinis I meet in the US will know where South Trinidad is located and that not everyone is from Port Ah Spain (sic). God Bless

  24. Congratulation to the People’s Partnership Coalition. I don’t understand how the PNM can say that they are supprised. It just shows how out of touch they were. Now the PP has to govern and formulate a way to keep the people briefed but to also follow the money trail and prosecute anyone who stole or misused billions of dollars of the people’s money. The PP must follow the 120 day plan and focus on delivering for the people.

    Mitch, Atlanta.

  25. Halbo, well said. I don’t know much about her, but I hope she can bring about changes. There are serious social issues that needs to be addressed in T&T, crime must drop.. I wish her all the best. I think it is breath of fresh air, we got a woman leader. I have faith in her, and I am sure she would be better than those corrupted men (UNC/PNM).

  26. Trinidadian New Yorker, thank you for the eloquent comment. It is nice to see a multi-cultural party. That is what Trinidad is, and we need true representation. I wish Madam Prime Minister all the best. As a woman, I am proud of her.

  27. Congratulations and Best wishes on your new role as Prime Minister of TRINIDAD&TOBAGO. May god give you the strength and power to lead T&T is this hard time.
