US$3 million a day to run radar
'You know they are paying US$3 million a day for that radar? Not us. They are paying that. Therefore they kept some of their military personnel there to ensure that the radar would be safe and would be able to continue working, and will not be sabotaged, or any such matters,' Persad-Bissessar said.
She acknowledged the ongoing public concern about the presence of US military personnel in this country, however, she explained that the former administration signed the relevant Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). She said she inherited the agreement from the previous government which was led by Dr Keith Rowley.
