T&T's US$1 billion bond
The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT) has appointed JP Morgan Securities and Bank of America Securities to arrange a US$1 billion international bond issue. The transaction, authorised by the Minister of Finance under the External Loans Act on January 12, 2026, targets qualified institutional buyers in the United States under Rule 144A and international investors under Regulation S.

Migrant registration to start next week
The Government will begin registering all undocumented migrants in Trinidad and Tobago from next week Friday under a new Migration Registration Framework, Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander announced today.

In June last year, Lemessy and another sister, Lou Ann Lemessy, appeared before the courts, charged with grievous bodily harm against their brother, Gerard Dillah, who suffered burns after he was allegedly doused with hot water and bleach in the family's home in Mayaro on May 29 last year.

The sisters were granted $250,000 bail each when they appeared in court on June 6. As a condition of bail, the sisters were instructed to leave the family's home.
