Military return to base amid rumour of US attack on Venezuela

The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) has been placed on high alert, with all soldiers and Coast Guard officers ordered to report to their respective bases by this evening.

TENSION IN THE CITY
Shortly after midday, schoolchildren were seen exiting the capital in the company of their parents. As far as the eye could see, a ribbon of people were awaiting transport at taxi stands, including Morvant, San Juan, San Fernando, Diego Martin and Long Circular Road, St James. Umbrellas popped up as people stood waiting impatiently for transport. Several small businesses closed early reportedly because of fear of looting and violence hitting them.

A media release on the UN Human Rights Office's website quoted Türk on October 31 as saying, "Over 60 people have reportedly been killed in a continuing series of attacks carried out by US armed forces against boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific since early September, in circumstances that find no justification in international law."
