AG's Nonprofit Bill Posted: Saturday, April 6, 2019
FATF & the AG's Nonprofit Bill (Facebook) At CAISO, we're struggling to educate ourselves about the non-profit organization legislation Attorney General Faris Al Rawi rushed through the House this week and passed without amendment or Opposition support: http://ttparliament.org/publications.php?mid=28&id=829. The legislation would require all nonprofit entities (including those that aren't incorporated) to register every three years and be overseen by the Financial Intelligence Unit; and they and their "controllers" face $50,000 fines, seven years in jail, deregistration and asset forfeiture if they fail to comply with the rules in the bill and subsidiary regulation, or if unregistered entities fundraise. Released convicts who served sentences of three years or more are barred from being controllers.
