$47B in taxes owed
SOME $47 billion is owed in taxes to the State, a Parliament Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was told yesterday while examining the Ministry of Finance, at Tower D, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain.

WORDS which led to his suspension from the Police Service a year ago, resulted yesterday in a sedition charge being levelled against Secretary of the Police Social and Welfare Association (PSWA ) Inspector Michael Seales. The Inspector went to the Port-of-Spain CID shortly after 3 pm yesterday, having been informed late Tuesday by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Deodath Dulachan, that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) instructed that he be charged. Dulalchan was the lead officer appointed in June last year to investigate statements made on a morning television programme.

$75,000 bail for top cop
Secretary of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association, Insp Michael Seales, was granted $75,000 bail at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates' Court yesterday afternoon after he appeared charged with making a seditious statement on June 24 last year.
