IMF WANTS MORE VAT THE INTERNATIONAL Monetary Fund (IMF) yesterday welcomed efforts by Government to manage the economy but said, "priority should be given to broadening the revenue base with a comprehensive VAT reform." Reporting on its May Article IV consultation, the IMF described Government's Budget assumptions as "over-optimistic" but commended measures brought. The body predicted a fall in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2.7 percent.
