Mirror's management saddened over Sheppy's loss Posted: Friday, April 1, 2005
The management and staff of TT News Centre are saddened and shocked at the sudden loss of Sunday Mirror editor Keith Shepherd, who passed away at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital yesterday morning. Sheppy, as he was fondly called by colleagues and friends, had been an integral part of the Mirror family ever since its very first publication back in 1982. He shared a very close working relationship with the late Patrick Cho-koolingo, founder of the weekly Bomb and Mirror newspapers. Shepherd, who started his distinguished career in journalism at the Express, followed by a stint at the Trinidad Guardian before moving to the Bomb and Mirror, spent close to 40 years in journalism.
In his indomitable, rootsy style, Shepherd had established himself as a first class journalist through his unwavering commitment to tracking down, uncovering and reporting some of the most explosive stories in the public's interest. He has earned the respect of the wider national community for his firm and frank approach to tracking some of the major issues that others have shied away from. Although he will surely be missed by his friends and colleagues at TT News Centre, his sterling contribution and fond memories will forever reside with us all. Our condolences and prayers go out to the Shepherd family in this moment of grief. May his soul rest in peace.
