Comatose Onika gets blood
Posted: Saturday, December 18, 2004

Blood donors yesterday contributed the seven pints of blood which doctors at the Intensive Care Unit of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital had requested for Burning Flames lead singer Onika Bostic. The blood is being used in her treatment. Bostic remains in a comatose state at the ICU at the Port-of-Spain Gen-eral Hospital. More blood will be needed next week. Doctors confirmed yesterday that while the bruises on Bostic's body were healing, she remained "brain dead," with a slim chance of survival. They added that if Bostic regained consciousness, it would be nothing short of a miracle.

The 24-year-old wom-an has been in a coma since last Saturday, when the car in which she was a passenger was involved in an accident. She suffered massive head injuries and underwent an emergency operation in a bid to save her life. Friends and relatives of the singer continued to pray outside ICU yesterday and her mother Jacinta and others have not given up hope. They feel that a miracle will take place and Bostic will be healed. A prayer concert for Bostic will be held at her Woodbrook home on Sunday.
