USA AND EUROPE NEED TO MAKE BETTER CHOICES

The USA and European countries that are faced with more socially oriented governments in Venezuela, Brazil and Ecuador have choices.

It is clear that as countries institute more socially oriented programs the money to do this must come from somewhere and it may mean a reduction in profits for multinational corporations and the rich capitalists in these countries.

Faced with this situation European countries can revisit their own history and remember that much of the wealth that they have accumulated came from invading other countries and killing or enslaving the inhabitants. For example, the indigenous inhabitants of Australia have been killed and marginalized, indigenous Indians in America and the West Indies suffered similarly, Africans on the African continent have been enslaved, killed and forcibly dislocated by so called European adventurers.

The fear of loosing business opportunities or the hope of creating business opportunities is not appropriate reasons for resorting to aggression and violence.

The USA and Europe need to learn that they can’t build harmonious relationships with other countries through aggression and violence, this can only be achieved through mutual respect and cooperation.

The idea that the USA and Europe can benefit from using unprovoked aggression and violence against the rest of the world is a delusion and they can start to correct this delusion by paying reparations to Africans that they have enslaved. Multinational corporations based in the USA and Europe can also accept reduced profits and search for trading arrangements with the rest of the world that are mutually beneficial.

The USA and Europe do not have to continue their long history of trying to benefit from aggression and violence. There are many ways in which countries of the world can cooperate and share the world’s resources.

Labeling other countries as terrorist cells and increasing threats of aggression and invasion is not the only option open to the USA for dealing with the uncertainty of future trading arrangements between it and the rest of the world.

The USA and Europe can continue their long history of making poor choices, but poor choices can never be justified. The use of force and violence to dominate world-trading patterns has been wrong in the past, it is wrong in the present and it will be wrong in the future.
