United National Congress (UNC) political leader Basdeo Panday yesterday categorically denied that Jamaat al Muslimeen leader Yasin Abu Bakr told him about the 1990 insurrection the night before it happened.
Panday was speaking to reporters minutes before filing his nomination papers to contest the Couva North seat in the upcoming elections. The papers were filed before returning officer Sahadeo Singh at the Valuations Office on Market Street in Chaguanas.
"If he swears on his wives on this one, he does not care about his wives," Panday said.
He said he was in Parliament on July 27, 1990, but he left at 4.30 p.m. as he had been doing since he had had his heart surgery. MORE
