Planning and Development Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday brushed aside insinuations by Basdeo Panday that the PNM was seeking to eliminate the UNC leader from local politics by having his house searched by police.
"I am not surprised to hear him (Panday) say that," Rowley responded. "Everytime he has problems, he blames the PNM."
The PNM Minister and senior MP added that he was surprised that Panday had not yet accused the PNM of depositing millions into his London account, but that he suspected that the UNC leader would do it sooner or later.
On Tuesday afternoon, members of the Fraud Sqaud searched Panday's house and questioned him over reports that he has large sums of money in a London bank.
Yesterday Panday called a press conference to discuss the search and it was at that meeting that he blamed the PNM for his misfortune, saying that "unprecedented abuse of State terror has been taking place under the unconstitutional Manning regime".
