Re: Emancipation of >>> "Damaged African Minds."

Observer, I agree with you, I am on your side, but this thing of African people who are dressing to look so called "White" is being blown out of proportion. The Fashion capitals of the world are New York, London ,the "meca" Paris, Milan and to some extent Hollywood. They set the fashion stage and determine what the rest of the world wears, at least those that want to be tredy; they determine what is sexy and what is not. These fashion centers are not in any African nation, not in any Indian nation , not in any Chinese nation and not in the majority of Caucasisan nations. For African peole who love fashion and want to be "in" as well as other people from other races including some white ethnic groups this means modifying their appearances and even white people do the same. Niaomi Campel, for example, when she wears coloured contact lenses to convey anr image for a particular fashion camaign do you expect her to say sorry I am balck and this is unnatural for me to do?? The thought problaby never crosses her mind. Probably one half to three quaters of white models are doing the same. Not all whites have light eyes and hair. Are you saying Pamela Anderson(not naturaly blonde)suffers from a brunette damaged psyche???? Do non- blondes look at her as comitting the "ultimate sin". Go visit Italy Spain, Greece or even the south of France, the first thing you will notice is how much more Blond women they are compared to blond men. Obviously this due to women that dye their hair to create this very disproportionate ratio. Do these women have damaged psyche or feel inferior to their Nothern neighbours??? Hell no! These are some of the most confident women I have met.
One thing you will notce in Paris ,(the meca of fashion) is the large number of teenagers who abondon their signature French designs to adopt the fashion of Jamacian Rastas or African American rappers, are these teens seen as sell outs or have damaged egos??? Do you remember Gullit, the black football player from Holland, were the fans that copied his dredlocks( which is difficult for whites to do) seen as sell outs through out Europe??? What about Bo Derek in the movie "hang ten", a hairdo she copied form her African American hair dresser, is she a sell out too?
When Africa went into famine in the 1980's, the man that brought this to the attention of the world was an Irishman named Bob Geldof( cannot dress to save his soul),he organised Band Aid and live Aid(Fellow Irish Rock star Bono is now follwing in his footsteps). Who was the first BLACK do bring the plight of this famine to world attenion??? Was it not Michael Jackson?? Ha? USA for Africa, sound famaliar. Now how does this sound, the first Black man to fight for this Afican cause (An African problem being solved by an Africa man)we hammer him on his head because he had plastic surgery like everyone else in Hollywood. Who is the the true African, Michael Jackson, Baby doc or must be Iddi Amin from Uganda, he ate african for breakfast???? I rest my case.
Observer, I am glad we can have this civil discussion but let me ask you this question: Look at the very sexy and beautiful African women of this years Miss T&T Universe do you view any of them as sell outs or being unAfrican for having straight hair and/ or dyed??? If you do my I suggest you visit your doctor for some Viagra. No offence intended.
The only way to heal the African mind is to help and praise other Africans not criticize them, and certainly not for the way they look.
Peace.
