Why does Patrick Manning fear an inquiry?

Prime Minister Manning is adamant that there is not going to be and inquiry into the failed coup in 1990. It is apparent that the loss of innocent lives, the destruction of property and other components directly or indirectly attributed to this horrific incident are not important to him, and should be equally unimportant to us; the general public.

In this dysfunctional society of ours, it would be more than conjecture to assume that if an inquiry would negatively affect members of the opposition political party, Mr. Manning would not hesitate to lead a parade of inquiry.

The conclusion from this is that Mr. Manning or members of the PNM were actively engaged in creating an atmosphere that was conducive to the stain on our National honour. The provocative questions are who, and to what extent? We need to know.

I suspect that Mr. Manning's religious oratory will be put to the test if such an inquiry took place. His failed self proclaimed "Father of this Nation" and later suggestion that being a religious minister after leaving office would be more appropriate followed by his unfulfilled wish to be a bus driver; evokes monumental laughter. What is he attempting to hide with these protestations?

In a democratically free country, people have a right to know. And our Prime Minister Manning says that we gave up that right to know when we empowered the PNM. I believe that he is attempting to hide something, and we must continue to insist that the lives of those who were lost should not have died in vain. Their families need closure and so does our Nation.
