Re: What is this preoccupation with black unity

I just wanted to clarify the population. It was only around the time of emancipation thatWhites outnumbered the slaves. In the south, many slaves were not included in the census. My history is a little rough at the moment on the civil war, but it wasn't all about freeing a people. The Union wanted to maintain control, and they knew if the Slaves were free and able to vote, that they would not vote for southern politicians. At any rate, in many cases throughout the southern collonies/ states there were 100 or more slaves per plantation under the rule of an extended family of about fourteen. Had the revolt in Haiti happened here, at or around the same time it happened in Haiti, then the U.S. would not be the country it is today. If you remember, it was right around the time of the civil war when the big European immigration wave hit from Ireland and Scottland. The European immigration wave continued strong until about 1935. I do remember being asked in school why didn't the slaves revolt and take over since they outnumbered their masters. The reason was the way in which they were devided in the U.S. colonies. They really couldn't communicate with one another or have time to develop trust. All of the seperation tactics were refined there and are still in modified use today. In Iraq right now people are being devided so that the U.S. can work it's will. The same thing in Haiti. It's called U.S. policy. Have you noticed that most Americans are not aware of the political world around them? Ignorance is bliss.
