Panday seeks UNC support overseas

www.newsday.co.tt

OPPOSITION UNC leader Basdeo Panday held a special conference at an undisclosed location in New York last week with UNC representatives from Britain, Canada and the United States to discuss the current state of affairs in Trinidad and Tobago. Panday and his wife Oma left TT on March 13 for New York where he was scheduled to attend a human rights conference at St John's University over the weekend.

UNC sources in New York said party representatives noted "increasing disenchantment with the PNM administration by citizens of TT overseas" and reiterated their support for both Panday and the party. Panday also addressed annual Phagwa celebrations in New York last week which were attended by several TT nationals who now reside in the US. UNC officials in London recently informed Newsday the party was currently in the process of hiring a team of international researchers with expertise in various fields to guide the UNC in policy formulation in areas vital to this country’s development.
