Re: Down with the Sell-Outs
In Response To: Re: Down with the Sell-Outs ()

Many African-Americans were perturbed by Tiger Woods' re-labeling of himself. Embracing ones entire humanity does not make one a sell-out.
The abominations suffered by our enslaved African ancestors at the hands of Europeans did not cause them to lose their humanity, though that was it's intended purpose. Their very humanity cried out to their enslavers from beneath the yoke. Tribal behavior will only lead us along the path of the dinosaurs.
I am reminded of a former Anglo-Mexican employee who in his best English made it clear to me that he thought his "Indio" ancestors were morally superior so by choice he rejected his Spanish grandfather. How schizoid is that logic? Who were these "Indio" ancestors, Olmecs, Maya, Aztecs? All of whom were guilty of some pretty immoral acts if one has any faith in Anthropological Archeology. Many people of African descent suffer from this same form of schizophrenia. Embrace the culture and history of your African ancestors, for it is a history of survival and should give one pride. However, their reality was quite different from the realities that challenge the world's human population today and becoming occlusive and separatist is not the answer for the African.
