I have long resisted comment on our many talk shows but I am forced to put pen to paper after hearing Umbala’s treatment of his co-host on I95’s Christmas Eve evening programme. The young lady — Orlanda, I believe her name is was having her first time on radio and one would have expected a gentleman to treat her with some consideration and courtesy, but Umbala sought to insult and embarrass her at every turn.

What does it matter if someone has never read Dickens? What if someone does not know who Tiny Tim is? What does it matter if someone does not know what OTTGS means? Is this any reason to be insulted? I predict that this young lady will do anything in her power to avoid appearing on a show with Umbala again. I predict that any upcoming radio journalist will choose another radio station. Finally we have had enough of his self-aggrandisement and pseudo-intellectualism.
