Re: Election of a Speaker
Posted By: Paul In Response To: Re: Election of a Speaker (News)
Date: 5, April 02, at 7:41 p.m.
Both UNC and PNM members of parliament voted against all 5 UNC's nominees.
All 18 PNM members voted for their 5 house speaker nominees.
During the tea break, Basdeo Panday defended the UNC’s strategy saying that they (the UNC) do not feel that the election of a speaker was a primary issue.
The PNM is contending that a speaker was appointed, as their first selection did not receive a negative vote and only the UNC’s nominees received negative votes.
