'Play Whe' vs 'whe whe'

Court battle
'Play Whe' vs 'whe whe'

GODFREY LEE SING sued the State against failure of the police to investigate "whe whe" operations in Moruga which allegedly cut into the businessman's "Play Whe" machine sales.

In an affidavit in response, however, Supt Joseph Nathaniel stated that investigations led police to discover that the person who ran the illegal money game in Moruga was a close relative of Lee Sing.

Nathaniel was commissioned to investigate allegations in Lee Sing's lawsuit, filed in the Sub-registry, San Fernando.

Nathaniel stated in his affidavit that investigations, including a report by Sgt Mohanlal Bill, uncovered that Lee Sing's very close relative was involved in illegal whe whe on Lee Sing's premises in Moruga.

Lee Sing operates a grocery and a Play Whe machine.

He is contending in an application for judicial review, that the Moruga police have failed to control illegal whe whe in the district.

He contended that the State had a duty, as an operator of a legal Play Whe machine, to ensure that illegal activities do not impact on his business.

Lee Sing stated that he has sustained thousands of dollars in Play Whe losses because of the whe whe game.
