This response is as a result of some ambivalence on my part. Your insularity is as real as you pretend it to be and perhaps it is because you are locked into the commercial that touts the American dream. My interpretion of it is that success is the dream and failure is the reality. While you purport to realize the significance of Unity for segments of your society you fail to grasp the true nature of racism. You exhaust me, you really do. And it is because of the difficulties that blacks faced and continue to face in your society in spite of the handfull whose notoriety is usually fanned by wealty while the moral character of the tribe is rapidly diminishing that fosters this apprehension.
I am not trying to tell you to discard your dream; only heaven knows what it is. I am suggesting that you embrace the broad spectrum of African Americanism and help to move it upward. In the US have you noticed the upward economic mobility of the various ethnic groups? I am sure that you will realize your dream as long as it is not higher than a dog's back. And while you are at it do not turn your back on the reality of life for all of your people.
